I can’t believe the 31st is here already. The entire year I have this nagging feeling that I wish it were #inktober
I love using the inktober brushes on Autodesk sketchbook and I like being consistent with my style because for inktober you have to use pen and ink but if you’re on a cintiq tablet you would need special brushes that look like ink pen and ink.
I have special verified inktober brushes made specifically by them ..for them.. for digital artists so it looks like you are pen and ink ing. On paper.
Towards the end of inktober I learned about textures and it looks like I’m drawing on pen and ink on textured paper. You can download textures from online and it looks like rough paper .
What I found was it was super challenging to do the prompts because not only did I have to do a joke …and news of the day …but I also had to tie in a prompt that was prominent and wasn’t just thrown in there.
It taught Me to call upon my higher self to bring me the best ideas and I focused and focused …focused.. really challenged me this year and I was really consistent in my style just black and whites and some washes.
Usually I’m all over the place in my style and I like to use different art programs and keep learning but for ink tober you kind of have to remain stable and use the same medium every time so it really taught me how to be stable and secure in my style.
I had a few winners a few of them went viral. My most popular was the Nancy Pelosi coat. Where I had Donald Trump tossing some sugar on it like sugar coating.
There was a political cartoonist on John B Wells Ark. Midnight show hes called Gary Varvel and he was on after general Flynn’s brother so for the caption contest I submitted 13 entries and I couldn’t have done it without Inkober because #Inktober2019 really pushes your mind.
I really liked looking at the other artists in the feed every day and on Instagram and on Facebook and on Twitter. I found that there was other political cartoonists wannabes really that were really making fun of our President Trump so I glad I contributed to that pool..and possibly overpowered them.
I love having a little collection and I’m proud of it and I’m grateful for inktober.
My 5 year old daughter did another version of inktober but she couldn’t do every single day.. but she still has a large collection and she’s only 5 and she used my graphic tablet for it. She loves Bendy and the ink machine. Version of Inktober.
There are rules to inktober and almost nobody follows them.. but I followed them .
I had the brushes I even did an under sketch and sometimes I let the under sketch show through because that is allowed and it has to be pen and ink only color is OK I think… i put in a few cartoons colors..I put color on some accents.
Every one of my inktober drawings… I tweeted to Donald Trump and most Republican Congressman that I liked and top stars in the conservative movement and many people of retweeted my cartoons.
